It is sometimes difficult for authors to realize that successful authors don’t simply promote books, they are promoting a brand. It is the brand that they then use to promote books and other offerings.
I wrote a previous post, ‘What is an Author Platform?’, about what an author platform is. Followed by, ‘How to Build an Author Platform‘. These led to several questions from readers about logos and why a writer would need one.
The answer is Branding.
Authors might write in multiple genres or even under more than one name, but a brand can transcend those boundaries. Think of it as an umbrella that covers the whole spectrum of your writing: Books, Pseudonyms, Blogs, Courses, etc.
(Note: While my example is a Logo that is not my name, yours can be your name, if you choose, as long as it is readily identifiable across platform components.)
Since the goal of all of your social media activity (if you read the posts linked above, you know this) is to drive people to your website, that makes your website the centerpiece of your author platform. So setting up all of your social media pages to not only link back to your website but to capture (where possible) the same look and feel as your website makes the platform cohesive.
There are several more, but you get the idea. Wherever you find me, it is recognizable and always, always links back to my main webpage. It matters not whether I am promoting a non-fiction book, a new Novel, a course I am teaching the platform is consistent. Even if my fiction work is ‘written’ by T.J. Tao (my alter ego) it all gets promoted on the same platform and people can find me anywhere on social media. That is a BRAND. It is a way to tie all of your efforts together and work towards your goals.

Each website is unique, but if you are wanting to blog, then yes, WordPress is a fabulous option. If I had a retail store, I would do it differently. Good luck to you
